traveling into the city one day i sat across from this character who sat like this for most of the trip, looking extremely dejected and alone. for me, it was a moment i just had to photograph. he looked out of the window once or twice. I took about 5 frames of him, and I like this one the most.
shot in late october 2006, afternoon, with a 35/2 on a nikon fm, about f/2 or 2.8 so as to blur out the background. 1/500th on the shutter to balance out the exposure. film was ilford hp5 at 400 developed in dd-x. scanned from the neg. in photoshop, i did some contrast and levels, plus some burning on his head.
